My First Snorkel

We went snorkeling today. It was so beautiful and amazing!

I could practically touch the fish and it was so cool looking down and seeing fish and the rocks of the reef. Sadly, I got really sunburnt. My face was bright red. And the back of my legs were pink. The water made up for the sunburn. It was a beautiful aqua, and at some points it looked teal. I saw a huge tornado of fish and I saw a cute li’l turtle. My favorite fish was a pretty bright teal and aqua color, and it was about the size of a trout. Our group saw a turtle in the water and I got closer to it than anyone else.

Oh, yeah, and in between snorkeling sessions, we had a break. We stopped at an island and they gave us some water and watermelon slices. We played in these huge saves and at one point a giant wave almost pulled me way far out in the ocean. Luckily, a nice man and my mom pulled me out.

After lunch, we went snorkeling again, but this time it was far shorter session. I got separated from our group, but I saw some beautiful things. A fish was one foot away from my hands!

We stopped at an island for a yummy lunch of baloney and cheese sandwiches, and on the boat ride back we saw spotted dolphins and whales! It was all super fun and gorgeous. (And I have the scar to show it…. Duh Duh Duhh….)

Editor’s Note:  Despite the events depicted in this true life drama, at no time was the author nor anyone in her party “almost pulled out into the ocean” nor “separated from the group.” The adults featured in this story were responsible and watching her carefully the ENTIRE time. I promise.

  1. Sounds beautiful! I can only imagine how fantastic it would be to see all the colorful fish! I’m glad your mom and the nice man were there to pull you out vs. being swept away by the large wave 🌊
